On 13 July 2008 I aim to compete in the Ironman Switzerland triathlon (3.8km swim, 180km bike, 42km run) and raise money for research into finding a cure for my son, Joseph, who has been diagnosed with an incurable neurological genetic disease called Leukodystrophy, and for others affected by similar demyelinating diseases.

So if you would like to make a donation please click on the appropriate button below:

If you have a UK bank account and you are a UK tax payer, donations will be sent to the Myelin Project UK. Please provide your name and postal address in order to benefit from Gift Aid. Note that you do not need to do anything in addition to benefit from Gift Aid: it is the responsibility of the charity to provide details of all donors to the UK government in order to claim the Gift Aid.

If you live in a Euro currency based country, donations will be sent to the European Leukodystrophy Association (ELA). Note that the first PayPal donation page you will see after clicking on this button will default to an Irish version. You will get the opportunity to choose your country on subsequent pages.

If you live outside of Europe then feel free to choose either of the above currencies.

The reason I have chosen two charities is to avoid as many overheads as possible (e.g. currency conversions). In addition, donations to a UK charity from a person who is a UK tax payer can be boosted by the UK government’s Gift Aid scheme. With Gift Aid, donations can be increased by around 28%.
